Above are Character designs from Industrial Light and Magics (ILM) animated film 'Rango'. The character designs are amazing and they use a wide range of neutral colors. Many are desaturated but fit in with the style and life of the film. It seems they have stuck to keeping the characters colour schemes close to the real life creatures they are designed to be. The characters have similar structure to their real life representations but their traits are very different, even so the look of the film feels very real and believable. The use of broken colours fits well with the dessert environment.
The sky shown in these concepts and in the film tend to be the strongest saturated colour throughout. Bright clear skies are in contrast to the neutral colors of the buildings.
